I want you to earn your degree so that you can take your life and career to the next level. I want you to achieve your dreams. I never quite know what to put in these sections. I guess I've never been too keen on selling myself. But here goes: When it comes to tutoring, I prefer to guide the student to the answer rather than telling him or her. This is especially important when it comes to mathematics. If someone is teaching your child that Mathematics is a set of procedures (when "x" is on this side, you do so and so), they are doing your child a great disservice. Mathematics is supposed to teach logic and reasoning. So the important factor is not the procedure, but rather the thought process leading to the procedure. Therein lies the true beauty in Mathematics. Being able to reason within certain guidelines; to be able to achieve a goal, given a set of rules that must be followed. So when they ask you to solve for "x", they're not testing to see whether you can follow directions: that's a skill better taught in "home ec". It's supposed to give one experience with reasoning within the rules (of Algebra, in this case). This same reasoning applies to all levels of Mathematics: it's all just puzzles, so let's have fun with it! My students vary from middle grade kids to graduate students. I have also taught SAT math, GRE math and GMAT math privately.
